In our latest Inside View podcast, Legal IT Insider’s editor Caroline Hill sits down on our virtual sofa with Sam Dixon, a partner and UK chief innovation officer at Womble Bond Dickinson, responsible for innovation strategy.

Dixon was previously an associate at Womble Bond Dickinson before he became head of innovation in 2021, and chief innovation officer in 2024.

In this thoughtful, future gazing conversation, we discussed the changes in the ways that tasks are already delivered – whether that be juniors taking on higher-level, AI assisted tasks or partners taking on research that would previously be assigned to juniors – and what that means for future training needs.

We discussed how technology-assisted training can provide a better experience than the romanticised ideal of learning by human-led osmosis, with comparisons to other professions where the latter is laughable. Tech-led training is also helping with social mobility – have a listen to find out more about the work that Womble Bond Dickinson is doing in this space.

And we discuss client relationships, and how we need to develop our relationship building skills as we start to leverage the advantages of being human, working alongside AI.

Listen in below and be sure to share your own thoughts with us.
