Billables AI is a legal time tracking provider that leverages AI to track time passively while you work. The San Francisco-founded company has integrations with vendors including Clio and MyCase. Here’s all you need to know about the company, its direction, and its people.

How would you describe your company to a friend?

Billables AI helps lawyers and other professionals automatically track their work and capture billable time they’d otherwise miss. It runs quietly in the background, picks up on what you’re working on, and then generates time entries and descriptions for you — no more late-night time entry marathons.

And to a techy?

Billables AI is an AI-powered timekeeping and billing optimization platform built for law firms and professional services. The automated time-tracking solution passively captures work activity, generates billing narratives, and integrates with leading practice management and productivity tools. By reducing lost time and administrative burden, Billables AI helps firms increase revenue, compliance, and client trust. Founded by a team of AI, B2B SaaS and product marketing experts, the company is based in San Francisco and backed by leading Silicon Valley AI investors including Wing VC, F7, SignalFire, Darkmode, and Alumni Ventures.

Who are your target clients?

Small and mid-sized law firms who want to capture their time spent on client work.

What is your plan (growth strategy)?

Billables AI is scaling through an integration-led growth strategy — embedding its AI-powered timekeeping directly into the tools law firms already use, from practice management systems like Clio, MyCase, and SurePoint to daily workflows in Microsoft, Google Workspace, and Adobe. By focusing on measurable ROI (capturing 10–30% more billable time) and effortless adoption, the company is expanding rapidly among mid-sized and growth-oriented firms. Its long-term vision is to redefine how professional-services work is captured, billed, and optimized through intelligent automation.

What are you key achievements to date?

  • Raised $3.9 million in seed funding, led by Wing VC with participation from F7, SignalFire, Darkmode and Alumni Ventures to fuel growth.
  • Established integrations with major legal-tech platforms including Clio, MyCase,SurePoint Technologies and LeanLaw, boosting workflow-alignment and adoption.
  • Nominated as a finalist in two categories — “New Law Company of the Year” and “Practice Management Innovation” — at the Legalweek Leaders in Tech Law Awards 2025.
  • Expanded leadership team by bringing in veteran legal-tech executives (from companies like Clio and Consilio) to strengthen go-to-market and customer success capability.
  • Used by hundreds of firms globally, demonstrating strong customer impact: early adopters reported capturing 15-30% more billable time and reducing narrative-writing time by ~90%.

Have there been any key changes in direction since you were founded?

No, we remain focused on solving lawyers’ key pain point of billable time tracking.

What are the key challenges in your market?

AI timekeeping remains a nascent use case for many firms who are used to doing it the old way and unaware of the capabilities of AI to streamline their billing workflows.

Tell us something people don’t already know about the company?

Most “AI time trackers” on the market rely on screenshots or desktop monitoring. Billables AI deliberately took the opposite path — building deep integrations with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Adobe, Zoom, and practice-management systems like Clio, MyCase, LeanLaw, and SurePoint — so time can be captured passively without invading privacy or changing how people work.
