Each month we feature exclusive in-house interviews and content in the Orange Rag that you won’t find anywhere else. This month, Tom Saunders spoke with three legal operations leaders about their next set of challenges and priorities after adopting a range of different AI tools, including Harvey.
Legal ops leaders at steelmaker ArcelorMittal, advertising group Dentsu and argri-tech business Syngenta talk to us about how the focus has shifted to driving more advanced AI use; proving value; and managing the security and governance impact of frequent product updates.
As teams move past basic adoption, one of the hardest questions is how to measure value in a way that resonates with the business. Both Dentsu and Syngenta conduct regular surveys, both to supplement reporting from Harvey and to provide a complete picture across all AI tools in the department. Russell Davies, head of legal ops at Dentsu says the way Harvey’s usage is measured is changing. A year ago, Dentsu’s survey questions were geared toward identifying use cases and understanding how people in the legal team felt about using it. Now, “It’s more about ‘how are you using it’? ‘What are you using it for’? Rather than ‘how do you feel about it’?” Now that the team has widespread adoption, Davies wants to be able to see how often specific workflows are used and what this is saving the business in monetary terms.
