Harvey announced today (17 February) that it has entered a brand partnership with Gabriel Macht, who played high-powered corporate attorney Harvey Specter in Suits. The character is known to be the inspiration behind Harvey’s name, and one that has inspired many people to enter the legal profession.
While it is not uncommon for technology companies to enter brand partnerships in the B2C sector – there are many examples from Apple with U2 to Logitech with Kevin Bacon – it is much more unusual in the B2B sector. This announcement follows the news earlier this month that Legora has entered a partnership with Swedish professional golfer Ludvig Aberg, featuring their logo on his sleeve.
Macht said: “I’m partnering with Harvey because I care about where this company goes. I want to support a responsible approach that keeps public interest in view. Harvey’s momentum over the last 3+ years has made it a leading legal AI platform, helping teams change the way they work with AI, faster and with more clarity.”
While law firms and corporate legal teams may wonder at how much Macht really cares about his legal AI namesake, this kind of celebrity endorsement will draw attention for sure.
The announcement comes as Harvey launches the company’s Instagram account, @askharvey. Harvey’s co-founder and CEO Winston Weinberg said: “Gabriel’s legendary performance as a lawyer continues to inspire people to pursue law. To that end, there’s no better spokesperson to support Harvey’s global brand growth and the launch of our Instagram account than Gabriel Macht.”
