iManage today (14 April) teases the launch of the next evolution of its platform, with CEO Neil Araujo telling Legal IT Insider that it’s as significant as the launch of iManage Cloud. The platform, which we’re told will create an inference layer on top of your data to provide context for AI, will be launched at iManage’s flagship user conference ConnectLive 2026 in Chicago in May and London in June.

Araujo observed: “It’s a significant milestone for us. The goal is to reimagine how knowledge workers harness knowledge in the era of AI, and with a particular focus on how do you provide relevant context. Because context is so important to working with AI models or working with agents, how do we remove friction in doing that?

“It’s one thing to have an agent and another thing to say, ‘Hey, here’s what I want you to work on,’ and being sure that the process is safe and governed and meets ethical and security guidelines.”

Referring back to the launch of iManage Cloud, Araujo added that the release at ConnectLive is “as significant as the Cloud,” observing, “You’ve seen what we’ve done over the last 10 years, really transform how people think about managing their data. This [next evolution] is really about building an inference layer on top for your data that gives you context and enables you to work with AI models and AI workflows.”

While iManage is saving many of the details for ConnectLive, Araujo says: “When I talk about inference layer, human judgment in the delivery of legal work product is super critical but to make that judgment call, context is important. We help to bring those two together, so that you get the more effective judgement.”

Araujo stresses that the new platform will not take iManage into the realms of becoming a legal services provider itself. “We think we are going to be the best assistant that we can be to a lawyer,” he said.

While we wouldn’t normally write a story about a story, we think this is definitely worth paying attention to.
