DAC Beachcroft has appointed a new chief technology officer and IT director in the past month, with Mark Clark and Chris Teller taking over those roles respectively. The appointments follow the departure of former IT director David Aird and come amid a raft of senior management changes at the UK top 50 law firm. Helen Faulkner took over from David Pollitt on 1 November. Marie Armstrong took over as chief operating officer in March this year.

Armstrong joined from Dentons, which is where Clark served as global director of quality assurance & advisory between October 2020 and 2023, working with the global team on transformation programmes. He previously worked with Enfuse Group consultancy as director of transformation and change and his background is in management consultancy and business change. He will be heading up strategy for DACB, which previously fell within the IT director remit.

Teller is a popular senior IT manager who has been with DACB for 18 years, most recently as head of business solutions. His role will include day-to-day operations and service delivery, as well as the delivery of technology projects across the entire tech stack.

A spokesperson for DACB told Legal IT Insider: “We are very pleased to welcome Mark Clark to the firm as chief technology officer and also delighted to confirm that our long-standing colleague Chris Teller has taken on the role of IT Director here at DACB.  Together, Mark and Chris bring considerable experience and strong leadership to drive forward our technology strategy, and we look forward to the positive impact both will have as they step into their new roles.”

DACB is recruiting for roles including head of business solutions and head of data, following the departure at the end of last year of Chris Lewis for RPC. A further senior IT departure is in the pipeline.

The 3,000-staff firm has just completed a big upgrade to Elite 3E 3.1 and was one of the first firms to move 3E to its private Azure tenant. When the firm announced its financial results in July this year, Faulkner flagged that DACB would be “modernising our processes and systems, introducing further AI tools and using technology strategically.” Turnover was up 6.4% for FY25 to £348m. Key developments over the past year include launching in the US, Hong Kong and Peru.
