Roma Khan with Nada Alnajafi and Jessica Nguyen

Hello Fellow Nerds!

Today marks a new era for Contract Nerds, and I am thrilled to share it with you.

Introducing Roma Khan, Our New Head of Contract Nerds

Roma Khan, Head of Contract Nerds

You may know her as the Contracts Queen👑, and now she is officially the new Head of Contract Nerds 📄🤓.

Roma Khan has been part of this community long before this role existed. She has authored articles, presented on webinars, helped us produce events, and championed our work across the legal industry. She understands what Contract Nerds is about, as she has been living it. That kind of love for contracts and wholehearted dedication to the community does not go unnoticed, and when this opportunity arose, she was the natural choice.

Roma brings the full package to this role: a contract expert’s depth of knowledge, a marketer’s instinct, an entrepreneur’s drive, and a community leader’s heart. We needed someone who could run Contract Nerds, grow it, and love it forward—a true steward of everything this community stands for. Roma is that person.

Roma has had a remarkable career with multidisciplinary experiences. She is widely known on LinkedIn and beyond as the “Contracts Queen”. Roma is the founder and former CEO of CrushContracts Inc., the creator of CLAS (CrushLegal Academy of Success), and a former general counsel. Her legal career is built on a deep expertise in commercial transactions, process optimization, and legal technology innovation. She firmly believes in humanizing contracts to strengthen relationships between lawyers, stakeholders, and counterparties.

She recently joined Docusign as Senior Strategic Counsel and Head of Contract Nerds. She is thrilled to lead the Contract Nerds community into its next phase, delivering top-tier educational content, live experiences, and membership support globally.

When asked why she took this role, Roma said: “The Contract Nerds community is my community. I am thrilled to be the new leader and continue the mission that Nada built and Jessica scaled. I look forward to empowering our members worldwide with high-quality educational resources, innovative technology, meaningful peer-to-peer connections, and (of course) Clausey plushies.”

Roma instinctively knows what makes Contract Nerds special because she has helped make it special. And that is exactly why I am so confident in what comes next.

Please join me in welcoming Roma Khan to her new era at Contract Nerds. She has always been one of us. Now it is official!

Forever Grateful to Jessica, a Forever Nerd

Jessica Nguyen and Nada Alnajafi with a Clausey plushie.

After eight months of incredible leadership, Jessica Nguyen is stepping down as Head of Contract Nerds. Jessica has accepted an exciting new role as Chief Strategy & Legal Officer at Sandstone, and we could not be happier for her.

Under Jessica’s leadership, Contract Nerds made history as part of the first-ever legal tech acquisition of a community. Signaling the important role that community plays now (in a time of so much transition) more than ever. And throughout the whole process, she made sure that what makes this community special would never be compromised.

At the outset of the acquisition in September, Jessica set out clear goals that I am happy to share were achieved:

  • In-Person Events Program: Three in-person events (Philadelphia, Chicago, and New York) in just eight months, establishing a program that had never existed before.
  • Contract Nerds Community Council: A community-led body she founded and organized that will held its very first meeting earlier this month.
  • Free Video Library: Moving webinar recordings to our YouTube channel so they can remain completely free and accessible to all.
  • Clausey Plushie: Who knew that Jessica had a secret wish to create a Clausey plushie from day one. *Hand raise*, I did!

Programs like these take vision, energy, and genuine care to build. They are Jessica’s legacy, and they will continue to flourish in this new era under Roma’s leadership.

Jessica leaves us with these inspiring words: “This community is unlike anything else in the legal world. It is built on genuine curiosity, generosity, and a shared love of the craft of contracting (and apparently, plushies too). I am so proud of what we built together in these eight months, and even prouder knowing it is in Roma’s hands. She does not just understand this community—she embodies the value of this community. I will always be a nerd at heart, and I cannot wait to watch what comes next.”

What This Means for You

As I have shared before, Contract Nerds has always been bigger than any one person, including me. What makes this community strong is not who is at the helm—it is all of you. The mission has not changed. The integrity has not changed. And our commitment to providing free, high-quality content and connection to lawyers and contracts professionals around the world has not changed.

Second Quarter Recap: Launching New Programs

In this column, From the Founder, I promised to give you the unfiltered, behind-the-scenes updates on Contract Nerds post-acquisition. So far, I have published the acquisition announcement and the first quarter recap. Here, I’ll update you on how we did in the second quarter.

The second quarter post-acquisition involved several exciting new program launches, two in-person events, and a record-setting webinar.

Resource Growth

As the community continues to grow and thrive, Contract Nerds has hired a Community Operations resource named Lindsay Zubrikas, formerly with GitHub and Shopify.

Webinars

In January, we set a record-high of 2,698 webinar registrants. Wow! The topic was AI Addendums which is no surprise given that this is the newest type of agreement to hit a commercial lawyers desk since the DPA.

If you missed it, you can watch the webinar recording on our YouTube channel.

Be sure to follow our YouTube channel to access some of our past webinar recordings. We plan to publish all of our webinars to YouTube going forward because we want to make sure than anyone can access them for free.

Editorial & Newsletter

This quarter, we launched two new guest columns. The first is Responsible Contracting in the Movies written by Hemma Lomax, Deputy General Counsel, Vice President, Head of Global Business Integrity at Docusign.

The second is The Data is in the Details, my newest series where I dive into the details of data security agreements.

Social Media

After a very successful “May the Forth Be With You” giveaway campaign, we’re going to be doing more giveaway campaigns on LinkedIn. Be sure to follow us so you can win a free Clausey plushie or mug.

Live Events

Clausey traveled to Chicago and New York in the month of May! Greeting, taking selfies, and nerding out with lots of local fellow nerds. We launched our Redline Rumbles game and gave out tons of free plushies and swag while clinking Claus-a-ritas. Check out Roma’s recap of the New York event.

Contract Nerds Community Council

Nate Kostelnik has been appointed as the Lead of the Contract Nerds Community Councile (“CNCC”). The CNCC held their first meeting on June 11th and will continue meeting on a quarterly basis.

What’s Next

Here’s what to look forward to in the next quarter:

  • High-Quality, Expert Content: Roma is committed to ensuring that Contract Nerds continues to offer the same high-quality, expert-created content about contracts for our 26,000+ subscribers around the world. She has big plans and an exciting vision for the future of the community that will continue to emanate our core mission statement.
  • More In-Person Events: We’ll be hosting another Contract Nerds Live Experience in Boston in October. Be sure to follow us on LinkedIn for details coming soon! And based on a poll we recently ran, looks like our next stop will need to be in Austin!
  • Upcoming Webinars: We will continue to host one CLE-eligible webinar per month, all year long. Coming up, we’re rolling up our sleeves and diving deep into core clauses, including limitation of liability and intellectual property terms. Up next is a webinar on a topic that is near and dear to my heart, “Contract Redlining Skills for In-House Counsel in the Age of AI: More Human, Less Redlines, Faster Deals” on June 25, 2026 at 9am PST. Register here.

Always remember: you’re nerdy, but you’re not alone. 📄🤓

Forever Your Founder,

Nada Alnajafi
